| | | General Information Leadership in Giving Workplace Alternate Giving Options The United Way provides many options for giving; serving as a volunteer, participating n a workplace campaign, and beyond-you and your family can perpetuate your commitment to the community by building a relationship with the Untied Way. You may direct it to a specific IRS qualified 501(c)3 organization, or to one of our focus areas: Successful Children & Youth, Strong & Safe Families, Independent Seniors and Helping the Working Poor. If you want your contribution to simply go where the need is the greatest, you can request that it be used for "Our Communitys Greatest Needs" fund. Or, if you have no preference for where your gift goes, that is fine too - all contributions are allocated wisely by the volunteer Board of Directors. Giving to United Way through the workplace is the most popular way to donate; approximately 50 firms ran workplace campaigns last year. Many workplace campaigns offer a payroll deduction option-your gift is divided into installments which are automatically deducted from each paycheck, thus making it easy and painless to give back to your community. Moreover, you get to designate who your gift will help by indicating on the pledge form which agencies should receive your contribution. The United Way of Santa Cruz County chapter of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society is made up of donors who invest $10,000 or more each year in the United Way of Santa Cruz County. Leadership Giving Society The Leadership Giving Society recognizes corporations, individuals, couples, and families who demonstrate outstanding commitment to helping those in need through annual gifts of $500 or more. Philanthropic Gifts Program The Philanthropic Gifts Program is designed for those who make large gifts to multiple charities. The program provides the convenience of writing one check to the United Way each year and receiving a single receipt satisfying IRS requirements for documenting charitable donations.
